Jide Omokore, others take plea, gets bail from court
At the court, today, July 4, Omokore
alongside five others pleaded not guilty to a
nine-count charge against them by the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC)
The accused persons took their pleas after
refusing arraignment which following an
objection raised by the defence on persons
joint in the criminal charge.
The EFCC had however earlier asked the
court to strike out Alison-Madueke and one
Kolawole Akane as accused persons on the
charge sheet.
The coury having struck out the names of
the former minister and Akane proceed to
plea taking by the defendants.
After taking their pleas and arguments on a
bail application filed by the counsel to all
the six defendants, the judge over the
matter, Binta Nyako, admitted the accused
persons to N50 million and one surety each
in like sum.
Thr sureties must own landed property in
Abuja or be a public servant.
Nyako also ordered that the sureties must
depose their affidavit of means while the
defendants are to deposit their passport or
passports.
Jide Omokore, an ally of the former minister
of petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke has
finally taken his plea before a Federal High
Court in Abuja.“I am saying passport or passports because I
know all of you are top officials at the NNPC
and might various passports; so if you have
green passport deposit it, if you have the blue
passport or any other one deposit all,” the
judge said.
She further ordered that the defendants
must remain in court until their bail
conditions are perfected.
