PDP urges Buhari to fix Nigeria’s economy crisis

CThe main opposition party, Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President
Muhammadu Buhari to come up with a
means of alleviating the suffering of
Nigerians, The Punch reports.
This comes even as the nation’s economy
continues to face torrid times.
According to the PDP, President Buhari
needs to restructure the country as there
are also issues of unemployment, terrorism,
Fulani herdsmen’s attacks, inflation,
infrastructural decadence and militancy.
The statement reads: “The federal
government must tackle the issues of
unemployment, terrorism, Fulani herdsmen’s
attacks, inflation, infrastructural decadence
and militancy that have permeated every part
of this country without actions to check the
sufferings of the masses.
“The zonal chapter also calls for the
implementation of measures that will
ameliorate the sufferings of the masses as the
APC administration has dissipated most of its
energy on an anti-corruption crusade which,
unfortunately, seems to be targeted at only the
leaders of the opposition, particularly in the
South-West.
“Contrary to the thought of the APC-led federal
government, we, in the South-West PDP, want
the government to succeed in contributing its
quota to the growth and development of this
country.”
The PDP had after 90 days of the new
government, described as alarming, the
“damage” so far done on the nation’s
economy by the President Muhammadu
Buhari-led government, since it took office at
the centre.
According to the party, the “shambolic” state
of the nation’s economy within the period is
a direct fallout of uncertainty created by the
inability of the Buhari-led government to
chart a clear-cut economic policy, worsened
by abuse of regulations, and flagrant
violation of constitutional provisions.
