Clinton’s lead over Trump expands to double digits

Hillary Clinton continues to expand her lead over Donald Trump, with a new poll out Tuesday showing her ahead by double digits.

Clinton ahead 51 percent to 41 percent– up two points from a week ago in the same survey.
Clinton’s gap narrows when third party candidates are added to the options — with Clinton picking up only 43 percent, Trump 38 percent, Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson 10 percent, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein notching 4 percent.

The Democrat is helping herself by expanding her support among men. Two weeks ago, Trump held a 16 percentage point margin over Clinton among men, but in Tuesday’s poll, that advantage has shrunk to only 5 percentage points.

Meanwhile, Clinton’s lead over Trump among women has expanded. She’s winning women by 24 percentage points. Two weeks ago, she led in this category by 14 percentage points.

Clinton has also turned the tide among voters without college degrees. Tuesday’s poll shows Clinton winning that demographic by 4 percentage points — 48 percent to 44 percent. A month ago, Trump had the edge with this group by 9 percentage points.
Voters, the poll finds, care most about jobs and the economy, followed by terrorism, health care, and education.
