Hillary meets with top cops after being branded ‘anti-police’

Hillary Clinton tried to beef up her credibility as a crime fighter on Thursday, huddling with some of the country’s top cops days after Donald Trump charged that she was “against the police.”
Clinton said they nation needs to unite to mend rifts between cops and the communities they serve.

“It’s obvious that recent events in Dallas, Baton Rouge, Milwaukee and across the country underscore how difficult and important the work is ahead of us to repair the bonds of trust and respect between our police officers and communities,” she said at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
The gathering included outgoing NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton, who has spent the summer lambasting Trump.
“What we’re all about is reducing fear with concrete proposals . . . not exploiting the fear with rhetoric and platitudes,” Bratton said after the meeting. “I’m not familiar enough with what is behind the statement that [Trump’s] the law-and-order candidate.
What’s his experience? What are his ideas? I haven’t heard any.”
Trump rep Jason Miller responded in a statement, “Clinton and her allies’ anti-police rhetoric shows she cares more about protecting criminals over keeping America safe.”
