Is this why Obama thinks Clinton is the most qualified candidate?
Hillary Clinton’s still trying to pretend that FBI chief James Comey
says she didn’t lie repeatedly to the American people. The new lie is
central to her hopes to succeed President Obama — who himself still
insists that planeload of cash to Iran wasn’t a ransom payment to win
the release of Americans held hostage.
Yes, Clinton on Friday tried to come up with a fresh formula for her Comey lie. The version she’d been using all week was, she admitted, “short-circuited” — but when she supplied the missing parts of the argument, it was still utterly false.
In Version No. 1, she insisted the FBI head had said she was telling
the truth to the public all those months she was insisting she never
used her home-brewed server for e-mails “marked classified,” and that
the only secret info she’d sent or received was stuff that was only
classified years later.
The problem is that Comey testified to Congress that several of the e-mails were marked as classified, and hundreds more had information that the sender should’ve known was classified. In all, more than 2,000 of the e-mails crossed the security line.
Version No. 2 is that Comey says she told the truth when she was finally interviewed by the FBI. That’s close to accurate — he says they didn’t find any falsehoods in that testimony. Now the part that got “short-circuited”: According to Hillary, she told the agents the same things she’s said publicly — so that means Comey supports all her claims.
No, it doesn’t. Again, he’s said that Clinton claim after Clinton claim is “not true.”
Obama, meanwhile, still insists that the $400 million in cash he secretly flew to Tehran the day of the hostage release wasn’t a ransom, just a coincidence. Never mind that the Iranians didn’t agree to the release until Obama promised to send the funds (a total of $1.7 billion), and didn’t actually let the hostages’ plane take off until the ransom plane had landed.
It’s one bald-faced liar running to succeed another. Guess we now understand what Obama has in mind when he calls Clinton the most-qualified presidential nominee ever.
